The thing about sinus problems - if you’ve got "sinus", you usually won’t get much sympathy from someone who has never suffered from it. You can tell them about headaches and congestion and fatigue and poor concentration and inability to work, but they won’t be impressed. But you and I know how severe the problem can be.

A brief overview.

usually won’t get much sympathy from someone who has
never suffered from it. You can tell them about headaches
and congestion and fatigue and poor concentration and
inability to work, but they won’t be impressed. But you and
I know how severe the problem can be. And so do
scientists called epidemiologists, who study disease in large
populations. They tell us that hay fever and sinus are
amongst the greatest causes of lost days at work or school,
and cost the community millions of dollars each year in lost
productivity.

An Otolaryngologist head and neck surgeon will, for the most part, advocate surgery when antibiotics and other medical treatments fail to alleviate chronic sinusitis or multiple episodes of acute sinus infection. Before considering surgery, the Otolaryngologist will typically prescribe four to six weeks of antibiotics plus sprays, decongestants, and possibly antihistamines and steroids.

Surgery for Acute Sinusitis, Surgery for Chronic Sinusitis, Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, What to expect from endoscopic surgery

find that once you have sinus infection you will probably ALWAYS have the sinus infection. Whenever the soft tissue lining the sinus cavity swells up (secondary to allergy or a rhino virus) the "drain hole" will swell shut and the pressure builds up. When the pressure forces the vascular interface back from the surface of the sinus tissue your old friend the sinus infection arises from its dormant state and starts to have lunch...on you.
