Aspirin (acetyl-salicylic acid) 'Allergy' or Sensitivity
100%
Aspirin (acetyl-salicylic acid or ASA) may cause allergy-type reactions in persons who develop this unusual sensitivity. Although this sensitivity is not a true allergy (see What is Allergy?), this idiosyncratic type reaction can be very serious - sometimes even life-threatening. Another type of idiosyncratic reaction (occurring infrequently in sensitive persons) is that caused by intravenous contrast dye used for CAT Scans.
