Allergy Prevention in Children

Allergies are often life-long and although treatable, they are often not curable. It therefore makes sense to try to prevent allergies in children, if possible, than trying to treat them later.

For general information, the article was very good. I learned many things. Our daugher, Rosalyn (a fraternal twin 19 months old) has reactions similar to those discribed: Redness, swelling, blistering, and the misquitoes seem to love her in particuar--multiple bites. The other twin, Lena has no problem--hardly bitten at all. Japanese doctors say she has a permanent allergy that will stay with her for life. Is this true? To give immediate relief she is prescribed a steroid cream, which if applied immediately after the bite minimizes the potential hazards of the steriod. If you have any advice or opinions I would be grateful. She a lovely girl and otherwise healthy. It's sad to see her so miserable with all these bites. From: Bruce Hird
